In this class
'Diwali' is a much loved festival celebrated by Indians throughout the world. It marks the victory of light over darkness or good over evil. To celebrate houses are decorated with candles and colourful lights along with huge fireworks display. Like most Indian festivals, the focus is on family and food with elaborate meals cooked and enjoyed in the comfort of loved ones!
In this 4 hour class you will cook some delectable festive dishes that mark the spirit of 'Diwali'. This is a hands on class where you will be learning to put together dishes from scratch and experience some remarkable flavours. You will also get a chance to learn how Indian's celebrate Diwali.
Sunday 23rd October
- Starter: Mixed Vegetable Pakora's (Bhajia's), Coriander Mint Chutney
- Main Course: Chicken Dum Biryani
- Accompaniments: Pineapple Mint Raita
- Dessert: Kheer (Indian rice pudding)
Sunday 6th November:
- Starter: Tandoori Chicken, Coriander Mint Chutney
- Main Course: Keema Matar (Minced meat cooked with spices and peas)
- Accompaniments: Parantha's (Layered Indian Bread's)
- Dessert: Gajar ka halwa (Carrot pudding)

You will receive a welcome drink (masala chai) on arrival followed by an introduction to the menu for the day and spices. You will also receive special 'Meri Rasoi' aprons and notebooks to use & take away along with recipe sheets. At the end of the class you will be invited to eat together or you can take the food home to enjoy with family and friends.

Meri Rasoi brings you into its kitchen for some Indian cooking using simple and traditional techniques.
Nidhi of ‘Meri Rasoi’ will teach you to cook authentic, healthy, delicious Indian food using simple and traditional techniques that are used every day in Indian kitchens. 'Rasoi' is a traditional Indian kitchen where simple but delicious food is cooked using recipes handed down and perfected through generations.
Nidhi’s classes are fun, interactive and open to complete beginners as well as serious food enthuiasts and will give you an opportunity to learn not only how to cook delicious home cooked Indian food but also to use spices confidently.
Classes take place at Nidhi’s beautifully kept home in Raynes Park where you cook as a group for approximately 3 hours. At the end of each class you can choose to eat together or take the food away with you. All materials and recipe sheets are included along with aprons and notebooks to use on the day.
Private classes and weekend timings are available on request.
