Four session course
'll be taking you through how to sew on a machine step by step. Starting at the very beginning, you'll learn to confidently thread your machine and understand its basic functions. You'll go on to practise different stitches and learn basic sewing techniques which will allow you to go on and sew independently at home. If you already feel comfortable using a sewing machine and would like to progress onto sewing your first garment we'd recommend coming along to one of our Introduction to Dressmaking Classes.
Week 1 - Learn how to use a machine and familiarise yourself with straight stitching, sewing corners, curves and using a seam allowance. You'll practise these skills on a simple headscarf project. Week 2 - Improve confidence on the machine while working on a wash bag. Learn how to layout a simple paper pattern, transfer markings and cut. Do some basic quilting and learn how to insert a zip! Week 3 - Start on a fully lined tote bag. Learn how to insert a welted zipper to the lining of the tote bag, how to insert a facing, how to bag out a lining, all while sewing a sturdy, useable tote bag. This project is designed to reinforce all of the skills you have learnt throughout the course and help you gain in confidence. Week 4 - Finish tote bag.
We ensure quality. If your class doesn't reach your expectations, we'll give your money back.
