What happens in this class?

We all have shoes we don't wear any more - maybe we are bored with them, the colour isn't right, or we like them so much that we have worn them out. This is your chance to give them a new lease of life! Once you've learned the technique, you will be able to upcycle other pairs at home: all you'll need is time, patience, and a few very affordable materials and tools.

During this 4-hour workshop, you will select papers from Gabriela's extensive collection to transform a pair of shoes into your unique creation…

Your Teacher

Gabriela is an artist and maker. She creates prints and collages, greeting cards, jewellery and scarves with images inspired by memory, nostalgia and a love of everything vintage.

Her work is often humorous and whimsical – unless her romantic side takes over and then you enter into a fairy-tale territory of old-fashioned script, pages of books and music scores populated by chivalrous gentlemen, glamorous ladies, butterflies and rabbits. She blends a fusion of painting and digital media – acrylic, watercolour and ink with digital print – onto paper and canvas to create pictures, quirky greetings cards and a range of “art…

Absolutely fantastic. Gabriela is so patient, I was doing shoe decoupage with another woman, two others were decorating glass plates and another two were decorating trays, all with decoupage. We all finished our projects and were delighted with the results. I would definitely recommend this workshop to any one of any ability.

Fabulous class (again!) decoupaging a pair of boots into a work of art. Gabriela is a calm, inspiring teacher whose studio is for me a fairytale place of wonder. I could lose myself there! I've come back with original and fun boots and a joyous heart. We all need more craft in our lives!

It was my second workshop I attended and Gabriela is an amazing person and is a great teacher - again. I went to the mixed media collage workshop last November and now to the shoe decoupage workshop. I am so happy with the result. My shoes got new heels and a new inner sole and are ready to be loved again. Thank you so much for your guidance, passion and your attention for detail.

I loved the class. Gabriella was welcoming and has a beautiful studio decorated with amazing examples of her art works. I had an unusual project in mind, which was going to be a challenge, but Gabriella worked with me to make it happen.

Loved this course!! Recycling shoes! Is’t it a wonderful idea? Met fabulous people and Gaby is an excellent artist and teacher that gives you all the tips for you to learn the technique! Left witha beautiful and orginal pair of shoes! Would highly recommend and will certainly take another class with Gaby!

I arrived with a pair of favourite but rather tatty and worn boots, and left with a very funky pair covered in a purple and pink Marimekko pattern. Difficult to believe that paper can be used to upcycle shoes but it works really well, and whenever I wear my boots people ask me where I bought them! The class was very relaxed and the studio is beautiful, with a lot of Gabriela´s work on display and inspiring bits and pieces. I appreciated the coffee, biscuits and fruit as it is a long class! Gabriela demonstrated every step of the technique and she also gave us one-to-one help, which was much appreciated. I will be coming back to learn other things at this studio soon, highly recommended class.

A fantastic afternoon decoupaging a pair of shoes - I mean, who knew that was even a thing, right? You supply the shoes, and Gabriela supplies everything else, including decent coffee, choco Liebnitz biccies, and a wicked soundtrack. I started with a pair of boring beige pumps, and left with a unique pair covered with vintage maps. Definitely going to go back to do something else there.
