What you will do
Whether for your own home or a gift this anytime class is all about you. It's a one on one workshop so you'll have my undivided attention for up to four hours.
Using the wet felting method you'll be guided through how to make a piece of flat felt to use for leaves, as well as how to make 3D "beads" to use for berries. You'll then cut the felt into between six and 12 mistletoe leaves and with a bit of wire cutting, wool binding and stitching, I'll show you how to create your sprig of mistletoe. Please note as felt takes a while to dry your everlasting mistletoe will be damp when you leave.
By the end of this workshop you will have learned the basics of wet felting including making beads as well as basic stitch.
Taking place at Heather's home studio in Camberwell there will be plenty of home made cake, teas and/or coffee to keep you going through the more strenuous parts of the process.
NB: the last of the pictures shows a massive bunch and not a sprig. You'll need to buy extra materials and cement what you've learned in your own home if you want such a generous display. Of course, you'd be very welcome to come back to Purr & Wag It HQ for a further tabletop workshop to make some more with me after eating a bit more cake.
A little bit about that; wet felt making is simple, once you know how. It's made up of a series of repetitive actions. Many people find it relaxing and some a stress buster. But, elements of felt making are quite vigorous and very hands on. If you have arthritis in your hands you may find parts of the process challenging. That being said it’s not stopped anybody before and Heather is very happy to help you with vigorous parts of the process.
Allergies to cats or indeed wool? Please note Heather has three cats (they’ll be elsewhere in the house during the workshops). Antihistamines are available but her workshops may not be for you.
