Terrarium Masterclass

Very knowledgable tutor, fun class, highly recommend. We went for a hen party activity, even people with no knowledge got really into the masterclass

A hands on, fun and informative afternoon activity with friends. Got to walk away with my very own masterpiece (if I do say so myself) of a terrarium. Could see myself coming back as a date activity or with family.

Amazing experience and Ginger Michael was a great host which made the session even more enjoyable. Me and my husband love our new terrarium, and would definitely recommend this to our friends.

The masterclass was so good, ginger Michael was excellent at engaging the group and explaining each step. I loved that you got a chance to get little figurines I think these definitely added a personal touch to the terrarium. The materials are of high quality and I liked that we were reassured of this during the class with the facts and awards! I've knocked off a star just because I found that it was a bit cramped I was practically leaning on the person behind me, there wasn't much space - a different table layout would help this or not having quite so many people in the class. Would highly recommend as a gift or just something to do on a Sunday afternoon :)

A nice workshop, with good backround music and entertaining commentary. However it felt quitw a bit rushed: the time allocated for the terrarium is a too short to do it in comfort. Still doable, but it was unanimous for our group of four that one more hour would be much better. Alternatively, some help ahead of time would be benificial, so we could plan better. The instructor was friendly and accommodating, however I expected them to be mode decisive when asked to help with design (and it would definitely save time). There was clearly lack of convenient tools such as a plastic hose with a funnel, terrarium scissors, and a telescopic spoon/shovel. After comparing with another workshop where we've built a pair of terrariums, I'd say Botanical Boys has a massive room for improvement w/o too much effort.

Really great 2 hours. Fun but also taught me a lot. Terrarium in pride of place.

The Botanical Boys workshop was really good, slightly disappointed it was in the Samsung building, I would have preferred a more green and lush natural environment, rather than surrounded by gizmos and gadgets. That said, it was really insightful and fun and we learned a lot. The experience was really fast paced, which is fun for some but I struggled sometimes to slow down and really enjoy what I was doing, as I wanted to take time to plan out where I would put each plant. Slight shame that there were also only two types of plants available to put in the terrarium as well. If I had known, I would have brought and extra cactus or something. I would definitely recommend it, but upon reflection the price is steep for what is basically two small plants in a glass jar (even if there is soil, charcoal etc included).

Great afternoon workshop, my neice and I had wonderful time and made spectacular terrainiums. Ginger Micheal was super teacher, two hours flew by with lots information, help, fun quizzes and I even won a prize! Absolutely recommend to singles, couples and groups.

Fantastic terrarium workshop - my partner & I really enjoyed learning about the history & getting stuck in with building our own terrariums. They have plenty of plants to choose from & the option to purchase figurines to jazz it up - lots of room for creative freedom. Would recommend to anyone who loves plants & wants to try out a different experience.

Great class. Well paced and interesting throughout but at no point rushed. Michael was super helpful and kept the whole thing very relaxed but super informative. I did it with my mum as a gift and we had a great time.

The terrarium workshop was lots of fun! We learnt a lot and ended up with a beautiful terrarium to take home. My only feedback would be to pace it more evenly; it was a little slow at the start and a bit rushed towards the end. Highly recommend!

Great workshop, engaging instructor that made it really easy and fun at the same time. Highly recommend it!

It was a great event, I really enjoyed it. The only thing I would improve is the acoustics. We were seated at the end of the table and could barely hear the speaker, so it was hard to follow the jokes and steps on making the terrarium. But overall super great event!

It was great fun and enjoyed the history. Would have liked more about the plants, different types to use and what I could expect in terms of growth and general care.

We had a great time during the experience, I loved the learning the history of the terrarium at the begging of the session and making the actual terrarium was great.

Great experience. Learnt lots of interesting information about terrarium's and came away with a lovely one of my own (which is still alive!). Would not hesitate to recommend this experience to people who enjoy keeping house plants and want to try something a bit different.

Wonderful, informative and great fun. Our tutor Louis was fantastic and so helpful. The rest of the group were great; different ages and interests but all lovely. We would love to return and do another workshop, it was so different and unusual!

This was one of the best workshops I've done. I booked this for my boyfriends birthday and he absolutely loved it. 'Ginger' Michael gave such an amazing history on terrariums and its origin, and the class was very entertaining. The size of the jar was way bigger than I thought! And my terrarium looks amazing in the living room :)

Such a lovely couple of hours making a gorgeous terrarium and learning about them.

I had a great time on the terrarium workshop. The host Michael was great. He was really funny and well informed. We made beautiful creations (if I don’t say so myself! 😂) and I even managed to get it home in one piece. I’d definitely do it again!

I bought this experience day for my friends birthday . We had a wonderful day learning about terrariums , their history , how to look after them etc . Very relaxing , enjoying and therapeutic . The only small thing was that we couldn’t hear the ‘ teacher ‘ terribly well as we were furthest away from him . All in all ,loved it and would recommend it to anyone and best of all we had a lovely plant display to take home .

I booked a terrarium masterclass at the Samsung shop in Kings Cross for my husband's birthday, and it turned out to be one of the best gifts for both him and a memorable father-son activity. My 7-year-old son joined the experience for a small fee, and together, we created a stunning sphere terrarium that now proudly placed in our living room as a centrepiece. My husband is notoriously difficult to surprise, but this masterclass truly exceeded our expectations. It was an unforgettable, creative, and bonding experience, thank you Botanical Boys!

Very insightful. We became one with nature and felt zen. It was a great experience I went as a birthday gift to my best friend and we made a terrarium together. The quiz was fun and understanding the background of terrariums was amazing too. We had fun.

I bought the Eden dome for my boyfriend as a birthday present and to accompany I went for a standard one. We had a great time and loved the terrariums. They were a good size and we had loads of fun putting them together. Michael was really great throughout the workshop, telling us the history of the terrariums in a very fun way. We left with loads of interesting facts and information about the why of every material/plant we used in our terrariums and instructions about how to look after them once at home. We really enjoyed it and would 100% recommend it.

My daughter and I attended the Terrarium Masterclass, we had a super time and we are thrilled with our terrariums. Darren was an excellent teacher and we also learned a lot of interesting history. Both the workshop venue and Coals Drop Yard were great locations too.

Found the terrarium masterclass informative and practical with a great end product to take home.

We loved the workshop and came away with two beautiful terrariums. We were only expecting the workshop to last for 2 hours, but it was at least 45 minutes longer, possibly due to the upselling of wine and Prosecco at the start. We did not want any of this, so for us we were sat waiting for at least 30 minutes to get started. We enjoyed the information that was presented throughout and the singing at the end!

The session was absolutely amazing! Learned loads of interesting facts about the history of terrariums during the session. Had lots of fun creating my beautiful terrarium with all the tips they gave us. I can now confidently have a go of making one on my own. I definitely recommend going worth the price 10/10.

I was given this class as a birthday gift. It was a really fun class - we learned the history of terrariums and then we were given all the instructions and materials to make our own. The class was full, but there were enough plants for everyone. The venue was bright and airy and easy to find.

I had a great time at the Botanical Boys terrarium workshop, not only did I learn how to make a successful terrarium but learnt a bit of Botanical history as well, Ginger Michael was a great host and tutor and good all round chap. If you're thinking of doing a workshop don't hesitate just do it, you won't be disappointed. Thanks again Michael for a very enjoyable afternoon.

Such a fantastic experience, and the host - Darren, was super informative and engaging! Definitely recommend :)

I was so looking forward to this masterclass but I was disappointed. The workshop leader treated the session as if it was his personal performance space and it was misguided throughout. Prosecco or a soft drink is included in the Masterclass- odd to me that the workshop leader is drinking whilst he’s leading it? There was so much talk and showboating that there was no opportunity to talk with friends/family and have a lovely experience learning and building the terrariums. Alongside a rambling, clunky history of the terrarium (that took far too long), there were a random amount of music changes that he did on his phone to accompany his chat. There were many random sexual innuendos (the worst one being: advising us all that we should leave the lids off the terrariums for 2 days once we got them home - and then swiftly picking on two participants, a mother and daughter, and said if they didn’t do this it would result in the terrariums smelling and their friends and family saying “X and X have two very smelly holes.”) This example is one of quite a few. It was unprofessional and it didn’t feel like I was there to learn about terrariums, it felt like I was there to watch a show all about the leader. So odd and absolutely not reading the room. On a side note, we paid for the Eden Domes (which include some extra decorative stones and two extra plant choices.) There weren’t enough decorative stones for our party to each have one - and- we were told there was a problem with their supplier so the extra plants that fitted into the taller jars, wouldn’t fit into ours so we couldn’t use them. Deeply disappointing, especially considering that it was an upgrade option. There was no mention of these issues prior to the workshop/online and was suddenly talked about in the last 20 minutes or so of the workshop. Whilst we were creating them. We were taken to the shop afterwards and advised that we could get another stone from there and one plant of our choice that still won’t fit in the dome (and we could have just been given one at the workshop). I left having created a nice terrarium but it could have been so much nicer if we weren’t rushed from stage-to-stage of building it and instead of the mindless chat, we received a great amount of input along the way in a less sarcastic atmosphere.

It was brilliant - two hours of fun, a great activity, Michael was a fabulous and fun instructor, everyone had a great time and learnt a lot. Highly recommend!!

This was a birthday present, so I had no idea what to expect. Great fun to do. I thought I would be hopeless, but am super pleased with the result!

I got back home on Saturday with a beautiful terrarium i had made in the masterclass. The setting for the class was the beautiful Botanical Shop. The teacher (Darren -if i recall correctly) was lovely, knowledgeable and very helpful), the class was busy (15 people) but there was enough space and materials for everyone to enjoy the afternoon....we were also treated to a lovely glass of bubbly....what else can you ask? I would definitely recommend!

The terrarium making class was excellent! All equipment needed was provided and the instructors were very kind and helpful! We had Louis for his first instructional session and he was great! We would and have recommended the class to others! Will definitely be back for the succulent class.

The host was lovely; very friendly and personable. He explained things clearly but gave people the space to get on with their pottering. The group size was great and a friendly bunch. Beautiful item to take home. The only downside is getting it home the way it left the class was hard and things has definitely moved around so there was a bit of tlc to be done at home!

My daughter bought me the terrarium workshop as a Mother's Day present. We had to reschedule twice: once owing to illness and then because of a train strike. It was well worth the wait. Learning about the history of terraria was fascinating, the quiz was fun and I am thrilled with my terrarium. The glass of prosecco and the plastic dinosaur were just the icing on the cake! I would heartily recommend the experience.

One of the most wholesome and inclusive experiences to take part in. The Botanical Boys are doing great things with these classes, the content included and the atmosphere of take part in them . What a fantastic experience !!

I really enjoyed the person leading the class and he made us feel comfortable. However, I was quite disappointed with the class. I thought I was getting to make a nice terrarium, instead we had a history lesson for the first 30/40minutes of the class. When we finally got to make the terrarium, I had a good time finding out about the layers needed and getting my hands dirty. When it was time to put the plants in, we somehow only had five minutes to do it. This is supposed to be the most exciting and creative moment of the whole class and we had five minutes. I had to rush my terrarium and shove a few plants in (may I say the most basic and cheapest plants you can find, a bit cheeky for a 70 pounds class) and we were pressured to finish quickly, and for what? To make a social media video for their instagram page. I'm sorry this is harsh but I was not happy and ended up purchasing some extra plants and redoing my terrarium myself. I think whoever organises these classes need to rethink about what their clients are paying for.

It was a good class- learned a lot about the history of terrariums and their contributions to modern gardening and am pleased with what I made. I did find the upselling of more exotic plants for £5 each a little naff, it seemed to me it would have been easier to have offered them in the price and priced accordingly. I was given this course as a gift, and if I was giving it myself, I would want to feel everything was included - which it was- but the upsells made it seem like you had been given an incomplete gift - for that reason I would not buy it for someone else

My friends gave me a Terrarium Masterclass as a birthday gift. Michael was our host that day and he made it a really great experience! Not only building your own Terrarium is included, but also the history of terrariums, tips on how to take care of it, fun quizzes and games, and bottomless prosecco. After the workshop, I feel more confident with house plants in general. I definitely recommend the Botanical Boys workshop and I might attend it again in the future. Thank you!

Attending a Botanical Boys Terrarium Masterclass made for a fun Saturday afternoon. Ben and Daz were friendly, engaging, and knowledgeable. As someone who is more of a beginner when it comes to plants and plant care, I also found that the class was paced well and informative. Overall, I would definitely attend another class.

Really great experience, so much fun and wonderful thing to do as a couple. Plus learnt a ton of things and drank processco all at the same time. Would definitely do another class again.

Disappointed with the fact that we were only provided with one variety of plant for the terranium and frequently told how expensive and how short they were of certain items like moss etc. Reasons provided didn’t seem plausible and I found that the person delivering the course a little patronising at times. Price too high given the limitation on plants and terranium ingredients. etc. Such a shame as has the potential of being a very enjoyable class.

What a fantastic afternoon. I had booked a place for my 11yr old son and the botanical boys were extremely accommodating to allow me to sit at the workshop table. We loved hearing about the history of terrariums, the competitive quiz and poo curling game at the end. A real win and despite tipping our terrarium over when leaving - the team were really kind helping us piece it back together! Thank you for a very enjoyable treat and a lovely setting! Absolutely brilliant afternoon - great venue and Darren and Louis were fantastic. I learned loads AND left with something that is beautiful and totally made by me. Perfect afternoon out - for couples or friends.

Ginger Michael was a fantastic host and helped everyone in the class make an awesome terrarium. I had a great time sipping prosecco while building my terrarium and received helpful tips and help along the way.

We had the best time last Sunday making our terrarium! Michael was super friendly and knowledgeable, made the workshop entertaining, and kept us busy with quizzes and games in between getting our fingers green. Would recommend as a gift or date idea 100%.

It was a very easy-to-follow, interactive session that gave us the basics as well as some more advanced knowledge, made all the better with Michael leading the way. Would highly recommend!

A highly enjoyable class only let down by unnecessary 'entertaining' which detracted from the potential peaceful experience and essence of what was being created. Did not enjoy being co-opted into a dance at the end purely for their own promotional social media videos without any consent.

This was such a great experience! It was informative and fun and at the end you get to take away your new creation. Mine was made as a gift so I've been checking it every day to make sure all looks good at the point I had it over. So far so good! Highly recommended.

Had a great class learning how to make a terrarium. Time flew by so quick as it was so fun, and really interesting learning some history facts as well. I managed to nab an asparagus fern to add as an extra but would have been great to have enough available for all as it really made it look amazing! Definitely recommend whether solo or with friends or family, everyone was made to feel so welcome.

I had a great time at the masterclass, I love my terrarium and would 100% recommend to anyone! I went by myself but everyone was so super lovely and lots of individual people there. Michael, the teacher was brilliant, friendly, informative and entertaining. My class was held at the Samsung centre and it was a lovely space.

Truly excellent afternoon. Michael was a highly likeable and entertaining host who made everything flow really well. Great mix of terrarium background and history - enough to be interesting, not too much to mutter “Get on with it” ;-) Prosecco worked well, as always, and credit for having non-alcoholic option to hand. Enjoyed the light-touch informality & overseeing of proceedings. Left with beautiful terrarium & wondering who I could buy the experience for as a Xmas present. Would I change anything? No, I really don’t think so. Great job!

I really enjoyed the masterclass and would recommend it to anyone. I would say that I would have liked to have been in a smaller class and be able to interact with the other participants more. It was also hard to see the presentation (which was really interesting) because I was too near the front.

Really good workshop with some interesting info and then plenty of time to make the terrarium with lots of help to get it right. Fun creating your own design and looked really great at the end! Nice bubbly offered alongside too!! Would definitely recommend.

A very well put together experience of building your own Terrarium. You will guarenteed to learn a lot about building your own eco-system and having fun at the same time. Instructor is very engaging, interactive, knowledgeful and fun. 100% recommend people to try it out.

Great learning experience, and overall a great experience! Everything is provided, step by step instructions at an appropriate speed. Darren is a wonderful teacher. Even though we were a bigger group it still felt personal and any questions were answered quickly. Highly recommended.

A really lovely event! Took my boyfriend for his birthday and he was so happy! As someone who doesn’t really know much about plants everything was explained so well that I understood what was going on and we created a really beautiful terrarium alongside learning the history of everything definitely would recommend!

A wonderful workshop packed with information including the history of terrariums and hands on making our own terrarium. Darren was so helpful and full of knowledge. This was fully accessible for me and there was nothing I couldn’t reach. I would definitely recommend a Botanical Boys workshop and will be keeping an eye out for more that I can do.

Our terrarium masterclass was excellent - we had great fun with the host, and the size of the class was perfect. It was a great balance of teaching, games, and being left to build your own design! Definitely an excellent present or treat day out :)

Very accommodating and knowledgeable class. However would say beverages provided should be attentive to people who also do not drink alcohol. Keeping in mind London is a cosmopolitan city with diffrent faiths and individual choices. Materials provided for the volume of containers for the group should be also shared equally. The overall experience was great.

What a great way to spend a Sunday afternoon! It was boiling hot, but our fabulous host Michael plied us with water (& Prosecco!) throughout the session. Michael was the perfect host – genial, amusing and informed. We learnt about the history of terrariums, which included the opium wars and espionage. The BBs provide all the materials you need to make your own terrarium but it’s up to you how you want the finished product to look. The others who participated were lovely and and we had all bonded by the end of our session. If you’re thinking about doing this course just get on with it and book it you won’t be disappointed!
