What you will do
3 hour workshop
The 3 hour workshop is an introduction to the art of Letterpress and shows you how to compose the metal / wood typeface, use the machines and print your own type based artwork in the form of greetings cards, post cards and gift tags.
It is the epitome of a great way to get creative and share, build on ideas, get lost in a sea of letters and think about what it is you want to say to the world. The attention it takes to write backwards focuses the mind and you will be overwhelmed with the sense of satisfaction that is achieved by creating prints with your own hands.

About your host, The Colour Press
The Colour Press is a printing studio nestled under a railway arch in London. Here you will find an Aladdin's cave of letterpress goodies.
As a child, Emma was always drawn to anything handmade and found great joy in creating beautiful cards for the people she loved. As she got older and moved from crayons to collage and even to silk art, the passion for making things stayed the same. Over the years, Emma became the go-to-girl for personalised wedding invites and found such satisfaction in being able to use her design skills to help friends and family announce such an important day in their lives. These experiences planted the seed for one day setting up her own business. And then one very sunny day, she stumbled across a letterpress workshop, the stars aligned and The Colour Press was born.
All equipment is provided. It is an inky activity and aprons will be provided, but perhaps don't wear your best clobber. Like all good hosts tea and biscuits will be provided. The Arch is a short walk from Loughborough Junction Station and is opposite Wyke Park.
