Pottery Taster Workshop | Obby

Our tutor will first introduce you to the world of handbuilding using clay at which point you’ll design and start making your own ceramics. Once everyone’s comfortable working with the clay, you’ll then be shown how to throw a vessel on the potter's wheel, at which time each participant will have approximately 30 minutes on the wheel, to discover the joy of transforming a block of clay into something you can cherish, whether that be a bowl, vase or cup!

Things to remember

It is a good idea to wear something comfortable and appropriate for sitting at the wheel, as well as something that you don’t mind getting a bit covered in clay! If you have your own apron please bring it along. Long nails can also make throwing on the wheel…

Had a great time on a Saturday afternoon pottery workshop at Maxability. The course tutor was friendly, knowledgeable and incredibly helpful, putting us all at ease. Demonstrations were clear and the afternoon was well paced to ensure we were able to experience different techniques and compete our projects in time.
